Today’s children tomorrow’s citizens.
A leprosy’s patient’s child should not become a beggar.
These children should not be referred in future with the disease that affected their parents or grandparents.
The only way to abolish this social stigma is to give a new identity to these children through education.
Education not only gives them a new professional role in the society but also helps make them financially stable. Their quality of life improves.
Children are sponsored throughout their school education by providing school fees, books, uniform, stationary, shoes, exam kit, etc. If need, their families are also supplied with basic necessities.
Scholarships are provided for older children pursuing their higher education.
Children pursuing medical education (Nursing, Lab Technician, Optometry, Pharmacy, etc.) are employed in our hospitals. Children pursuing non-medical courses are helped with placements.

St. Lukes Medical Trust is a strong promoter of women empowerment.
Women affected by leprosy or widowed at a young age are most of the times socially discriminated by their own friends and families.
Employment and occupational rehabilitation are provided to such women to make them financially independent.
Education scholarships are provided to them and sometimes even to their children.
Alcohol addiction among men has broken many families. Women and children from such families are indirectly affected due to this menace.
An employed woman can care for her children better and provide them with a secure future.
Employment gives them social stability and security.
In fact, more than 80% of the workforce in both the hospitals are women.
Women are the essence of care in our healthcare mission.
